20wk2dys Ultrasound --- TEAM BLUE! It's a BOY!!!!!!!

I'm still in shock!! It's going to take awhile to get used to calling him a "he" instead of "she"!!!

We spent about one 1/2 hour looking every inch of him over. Julie, our ultrasound tech, was great and spent a lot of time explaining what she was looking for and what it meant. Down to things like:

Your baby has a nasal bone...this is good, most babies w/ Downs don't have that
4 chambers of the heart and it looks perfect
3 cord vessel umbilical cord
etc...it was really amazing to watch him move around and feel his kicks at the same time.

At one point he even reached down and grabbed his feet. And he definitely likes his hands around his face.

And at the end we looked for the "goods"...and he was being quite shy and hiding in a corner of my uterus. Julie finally had me lay on my side and he moved enough for us to see his little penis. I thought I saw it early in the u/s...but wasn't quite sure.

We are so in love w/ this little guy and Mike is so excited to have the little brother he was hoping for! Donna and I went out boy clothes shopping right away and caught some great deals at BabyGap and Gymboree!

Here are some pics....

My favorite is the picture of his foot...Julie said, "Wow, now that is a BIG toe!" and it looks just like his daddy's!!! :) I had a feeling then and there he was a boy!

Brad and I have agreed on the name and are going to go with: Maxwell William

Max is measuring exactly on target: 20w2d
Max weighs: 12oz (1 1/2 cups!)

My weight: 112pds (gained 9 total so far this pregnancy)

It was funny because when the nurse called me for the OB portion of my appt, she looked at me wierd and then looked down at my small belly. I started laughing right away and said, "I know...I promise, I'm pregnant!" and she laughed too and said, "I saw you sitting there and thought...that CAN'T be Jennifer...she doesn't look 20wks pregnant!"

Dr Jacobs said that everything looked great from Julies ultrasound report and said I have an Anterior Placenta which can mask the kicks and movement feelings of the baby, but I told her I've been feeling him for over 5wks now, so she said there is nothing else to worry about...and that she only wanted to tell me just so I didn't worry just in case I wasn't feeling much.

I'm so on cloud nine...it's such a different feeling to actually KNOW we are having a boy and we don't have an "it" anymore...we have Max!!!
